Meet Dana Outlaw
Dana Outlaw has degrees in political science and sociology from the University of Missouri-Columbia (1999). After she graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law in 2003, she immediately started her own family law firm. She's also an adjunct professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law.
Dana is a professional mediator and will mediate cases involving property division, child custody, spousal maintenance, and child support. She's also served as a Special Master on maintenance and child support and has conducted hearings on these issues.
She is routinely appointed to represent children as their Guardian ad Litem if the child has been abused or neglected. As the former contract attorney for Hope House, Inc., which is a domestic violence shelter, she has represented victims of domestic violence in orders of divorce, child custody, child support matters, and protection. Dana is also an experienced appellate attorney and has argued cases before the Missouri Court of Appeals Western District.
She's been the core presenter and moderator at numerous local and statewide bar meetings. Her expertise has trained attorneys on issues involving domestic violence and its impact on children, case law updates, and child support calculations. Dana has also been active with the Legal Aid of Western Missouri Pro Bono Volunteer Attorney Project and provides pro bono legal services to all those referred to the program. She's the recipient of the University of Missouri-Kansas City Law Alumni Foundation Pro Bono/Public Service award for her dedication and commitment to providing legal representation for those who cannot afford an attorney.
Dana is the former Chair of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association Domestic Law Committee and Co-Vice Chair of the Family Law Committee. As a member in good standing with the Missouri Bar Association, Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, and the Eastern Jackson County Bar Association and Juvenile Courts and the Law Committee, she has proven her dedication to the needs of the people and goes out of her way to ensure the best possible outcomes.
Dana is also a former member of the Jackson County Safe Family Coalition and has served on the planning committee for the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Foundation Annual Domestic Violence and Children Interdisciplinary Conference. As an experienced trial lawyer, clients have recognized her unique ability to bring matters to a fair and equitable resolution in minimal time. The cases she's handled that involve divorce range from simple no-property cases to very high-value, complex asset divorces.
